A bit about Ms. Ivey:

Thanks for visiting my website! My name is Elizabeth Ivey, and this is my 12th year teaching English at EHS.  Before coming to the high school, I taught 7th grade ELA in Elgin for four years.

I love teaching English, and teaching in Elgin has a special meaning to me, as my mother was raised here, and both my grandparents (Velma and Vallon Voight) were educators here in the 1960's.  I was raised and Austin, earned degrees in English and History from UT, and completed my teaching certification at Texas State in San Marcos. I am happily married to Richard Restaino who teaches 11th grade English next door.

Here are a few bits of information about English class:

--There will be some homework, though not every night.

--You can email me assignments at; be sure to check that I have recieved your email! If I do not reply, ask me in class.

--Now that all students have iPads, I encouarge everyone to sign up for the Parent Portal — to check your grades often.

--The best way to contact me is by email (  If you call, please do so before or after school, or during my conference time. If I'm not in my room, (as I am often not during my conference) please leave me a message on voicemail, or you can leave a message with the front office.
