Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to First Grade!
Hello! My name is Ms. Lester, and I am so thrilled to be your first grade teacher here at Elgin Elementary. It’s going to be an exciting year with many new adventures and fun filled learning. I want to learn all about you, but first let me tell you a few things about myself!
I received my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University. I have taught for 16 years, and this will be my fifth year teaching 1st grade. I previously taught in Mabank, San Antonio, and Austin.
I am so excited to be your teacher this year, and can’t wait to see your smiling faces!
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your family this year. My door is always open to visitors. Please feel free to visit any time.
I am always looking for parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, I need you to please go to the Elgin ISD website www.elginsid.net and apply to become a volunteer.
The most important person in your child’s life is you. You are his or her first teacher. Reading at home, asking your child about the school day, and checking over graded papers all help your child succeed.
It is also very important that your child arrives at school on time every day. Breakfast will be served in the classroom from 7:30-7:40. School begins at 7:30. If your child arrives late (7:40 or after), he/she will receive a tardy slip and miss morning announcements/work.
Please look for a Take-Home Folder that will be coming home every day. This will contain homework, graded papers, school notes, and will provide opportunities for written communication. Please feel free to call me at 512- 281-3457 if you have any questions or concerns or would like to leave a message. My conference time is 10:25-11:20am. Email is another great way to communicate with me. I check it several times a day: firstname.lastname@example.org.
I know we are going to have a wonderful year!
