About Ms.Autry!

Welcome parents and guardians,

My name is Amanda Autry and I will be your child's teacher for the remaining 2017-2018 school year here at Elgin Elementary! I am overjoyed and ready to help guide your children so they are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. A little bit about myself, I was born and raised in Gonzales Texas, which is a town of about 7,000 people. I immediately fell in love with Elgin's hometown hospitatlity because it reminds me of my own hometown! Once I graduated from high school I went on to attend Texas State University. I graduated from Texas State in the fall of 2016 with a Bachelors Of Science in Criminal Justice. While interning at the County Attorney's office in Gonzales and working alongside CPS and a childrens advocacy center I got the chance to assist and help many children in need.I then decided I wanted to make a career change by becoming an educator. I immediatedly went back to school and recieved my alternative certification through Texas Teachers.

I began my career changed by working in a Title I school working as a paraproffessional with a bilingual pre-kindergarten class. Shortly after I began working at a private school in Westlake Hills as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher and absolutely loved getting to work with the children but my heart was still in public education. I soon then decided to make the change by becoming your 1st grade teacher! Although I am quite new to education I have always worked with children throughout the years. Whether it be at my church as a youth leader, with my sorority's philanthropy "Girls On The Run", as a CASA volunteer and many other groups I have actively been involved in.

I look forward to getting to know each and every child on a personal level as well as an academic level.I want your child to know they are important and can do anything they put their minds to! And lastly a big thank you for entrusting me with your child’s education and safety. I look forward to a great school year with all my awesome students and their wonderful families! amanda.autry@elginisd.net or (512)281-3457 (ext. 1375).
