Teacher Incentive Allotment
Elgin ISD is taking bold steps to stay competitive in teacher compensation. This Spring, we are applying for the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) through the Texas Education Agency.
In 2019, the 86th Texas Legislature overhauled the school finance system as part of House Bill 3 (HB 3) and included the TIA as a pathway for districts to increase teacher salaries. The TIA helps districts recruit, retain, and reward highly effective teachers.
The TIA provides districts the opportunity to designate highly effective teachers that can result in additional compensation ranging from $3,500 to $20,000. Elgin ISD has been studying the program since 2020 to ensure alignment with our District Strategic Plan. With the continued challenges of COVID-19, the District has been focusing on the immediate needs and challenges of our students and staff.
As more districts in the area apply and are approved for TIA, the time has come for Elgin ISD to move forward and begin the application process. Principals and teachers are working with district staff to examine all aspects of the requirements of TIA and work together to design Elgin ISD’s plan.
