Hi everybody! My name is Cory Williams and I am one of the counselors here at Elgin Middle School. This is my third year in school counseling and ninth year in education. I have been with Elgin Middle School all 9 years of my educational career and there’s no place I’d rather be. I absolutely love Elgin and Elgin Middle School. The community, town and most importantly the students have a special place in my heart.
My undergrad was completed at Texas A&M University (Gig ‘em) in College Station, Texas and my master’s was completed at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.  I was inspired to become a counselor after working as a Reading and English Language Arts teacher at this middle school. My rapport with my students was wonderful and because of that bond, I found myself learning about them, their home lives, their hopes and dreams and seeing the need for a counselor the students could love, trust and confide in. My favorite part of counseling is to help children realize their inner strength and realize they are in charge of their own lives and futures. I also love being that confidant for children, because…let’s face it…Life is hard and middle school is even harder!
For fun, my husband and I love to dance, fish, play dominoes and throw washers. We also have a two year old daughter named Cora who is full of energy and personality! She’s our world and keeps us on our toes. Becoming a mother, hands down has been the best thing that ever happened to me and has helped me become even more sensitive, caring and driven in my job as a counselor, because every student is somebody’s baby and they absolutely deserve to be loved and cared for. I strive to treat every child on our campus as my own.
We look forward to working with the community of Elgin, the parents, teachers, staff and most importantly the students to ensure they have a successful and fun middle school experience.

Hi everybody! This is my first year in school counseling, and fifteenth year in education. My undergrad was completed at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and my master’s was completed at Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, TX.  I was inspired to become a counselor after coaching and my divorce. Students naturally came to me for a resource, especially after they realized my life was not perfect.  Everyone needs an outlet to talk about difficulties in life at some point in their life. What draws me to counseling is the ability to help an individual discover he or she has a solution inside them, thus empowering them to take charge of their life. My two boys are my pride and joy and continue to be excited to see their growths as young men.   I am very excited about this year and look forward to getting to know the students at Elgin Middle School!
