6th, 7th, and 8th grade Wilson Reading/Dyslexia/ System 44 teacher,
Hi everybody! This is my first year teaching dyslexic students, and twenty fourth year in education. My undergrad and graduate degrees were completed at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX . I have a Bachelor's of Science degree and Master's of Education degree with a Reading specialization. I have taught all grades 1st-5th grades and was the interventionist at Neidig for the last 4 years where I taught System 44. I have a passion for struggling readers and writers. I am currently undergoing my Wilson Reading Level 1 certification for dyslexic students. I was inspired to teach struggling readers after being one myself in school. I know how it feels and can empathize with students. Through my years experience in teaching, I have gained the skills necessary to help children become fluent, independant readers and writers. My hope and dream is that they learn to love reading, read for FUN on their free time and are successful in school and in LIFE! I live in Elgin with my husband and two daughters and LOVE teaching. I am very excited about this year and look forward to getting to know the students at Elgin Middle School!
