    Action Steps

    Fall ‘18

    • Create a survey to evaluate the school as a safe learning environment
    • Respond to maintenance requests to sustain safe environments
    • Identify and implement district approved systems of positive reinforcement that result in respectful interactions for students and staff
    • Promote available campus & district-wide resources related to students' social and emotional needs
    • Train staff in de-escalation techniques
    • Create a rubric evaluating effectiveness of district wide safety protocols and include in current Safety App
    • Communicate safety protocol expectations and safety resources to staff, including substitutes and students as appropriate.
    • Schedule and conduct safety drills
    • Include student representatives on Campus Safety Teams
    • Research and develop behavioral threat assessment protocol (elicit stakeholder feedback)
    • Train designated staff on safety equipment usage i.e. fire extinguishers and AED
    • Communicate proper maintenance and upkeep of safety equipment and systems to district/campus administration
    • Campus Safety Team student representatives shadow exterior point person

    Spring ‘19

    • Administer & analyze survey results to address campus specific areas of need
    • Develop campus climate plan based on survey results
    • Respond to maintenance requests to sustain safe environments
    • Implement campus climate plan
    • Identify and implement district approved systems of positive reinforcement that result in respectful interactions for students and staff
    • District Behavior RTI Collaborative meet monthly to develop best practices and analyze campus data.
    • Train key staff members in behavioral threat assessment protocol
    • Coordinate First Responder involvement in initiation of safety drills and exercises
