Financial Aid & Scholarships

We understand that funding your college education is a significant consideration for many students and their families. Here, we provide valuable information and resources to help you navigate the world of financial aid and scholarships:

  • Types of Financial Aid: Learn about the different types of financial aid available, including grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and loans. Understand the key differences between each option and how they can assist you in financing your education.
  • Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): The FAFSA is a crucial form used to determine your eligibility for federal and state financial aid programs. Completing this form is also a graduation requirement! Our College & Career Center staff will guide you through the FAFSA process, offering step-by-step instructions to ensure you complete it accurately and on time.
  • Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA): The TASFA is a financial aid application used by certain colleges and universities in the state of Texas to determine eligibility for state-funded financial aid programs. Unlike the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is used to apply for federal financial aid, the TASFA is specific to Texas and is designed for students who may not be eligible to complete the FAFSA due to their immigration status.
  • Institutional Financial Aid: Learn about the financial aid opportunities offered directly by the colleges and universities you're interested in attending. Each institution may have unique scholarships and grants, so we'll help you explore their specific offerings.
  • Scholarships: Scholarships are a fantastic way to earn money for college without the burden of repayment. We'll provide resources for finding scholarships that match your interests, talents, and academic achievements.
  • Local and National Scholarships: Discover local scholarship opportunities within your community and explore nationally recognized scholarships that are available to students across the country.
  • Essay Tips for Scholarships: Many scholarships require essays or personal statements. We'll offer guidance on crafting compelling essays that showcase your strengths and stand out to scholarship committees.
  • Application Deadlines: Stay on top of financial aid and scholarship application deadlines. Missing deadlines can cost you valuable opportunities, so we'll help you create a timeline to keep everything organized.
  • Financial Literacy: Developing financial literacy is essential for college and beyond. We'll provide resources and information to help you make informed decisions about managing money, student loans, and budgeting while in college.

Remember, securing financial aid and scholarships can significantly impact your ability to attend college without excessive student debt. We're here to support you in understanding the options available and maximizing your chances of obtaining the financial assistance you need to pursue your educational goals.
