Elgin ISD Receives Prestigious TIA Validation

Elgin ISD is excited to announce that it has successfully earned the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment validation. 35 EISD teachers have received prestigious TIA designations for outstanding student performance and professional growth.

ELGIN, Texas – February 4, 2026 – Elgin ISD is excited to announce that it has successfully earned the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment validation. 35 EISD teachers have received prestigious TIA designations for outstanding student performance and professional growth.

This validation marks a significant moment for EISD in its goals to recruit and retain outstanding educators.

“This is a critical achievement for our district and one our entire community can be proud of,” Superintendent Dr. Jana Rueter said. “Thanks to the extraordinary work and sustained excellence of our teachers, new doors are opening for Elgin ISD. Becoming a TIA-validated helps make EISD a destination district for educator recruitment and retention.”

This accomplishment will lead to $230,437 in estimated funding for Elgin ISD teachers, and an estimated $1,152,185 for the next five years.

These TIA designations, which are valid for five years and will be noted on the teachers' certifications, will provide them with a significant increase in salary. The specific amount each designated teacher receives will vary based on their assigned designation level: Recognized, Exemplary, or Master and the socioeconomic factors of the campus in which they teach.

Of the 35 teachers who received the prestigious TIA designations, 14 Wildcat educators reached Master level, meaning they are among the very elite educators in the state - the top 5% of Texas educators! 13 achieved an Exemplary status (top 20%), and 8 earned a Recognized designation (top 33%).

The TIA, made possible by House Bill 3, recognizes high-performing educators with a pathway to earn six-figure salaries based on excellence in the classroom. It also helps districts like Elgin ISD attract and keep talented teachers in all schools.

TEA requires that at least 90% of all TIA funds must go to teacher compensation. However, as a further incentive for its educators and those highly qualified educators who may wish to become a Wildcat, EISD has determined that 92% of these funds will go to TIA-designated educators.

“Our students’ success is directly tied to the exceptional educators who inspire them every day,” Executive Director of Human Resources Sarah Farias said. “The progress we’ve seen, with many of our teachers now ranking among the highest performing in Texas, is a testament to their commitment to student achievement and their own professional growth. Behind these impressive designations are real people who pour themselves into this work. Their work matters, and we are grateful they are here. Our spending plan is designed to send a clear message: If you are a talented educator looking for a district that will invest in you, this is where you belong.”

Shorty Russell

Congratulations to Mr. Shorty Russell and Coach Lucero!

At January's EISD Board of Trustees Meeting, three recognitions were awarded as part of our One Team, One Dream recognition program.

Check out what nominators said about each of these deserving honorees:

Shorty Russell

For years, Mr. Shorty Russell has coordinated our tunnel team for varsity football games on Friday nights. Shorty is always the first person to show up at the field for home or away games and each year recruits parents and community members to help support our football teams on the tunnel crew. He also proudly blasts our air horn when the Wildcats take the field and when we score. He never misses a game on Thursday or Friday nights, always encourages our athletes and staff and is true to our Wildcats regardless of the outcome of the game. - Athletic Director Jens Anderson

Coach Richard Lucero

Coach Lucero has been very supportive of our students academically. He has performed walkthroughs with admin, he has stressed academic excellence with his athletes, helps with lunch duty and hall duty, and supports fine art activities! Thank you, Coach  Lucero! -EHS Principal Ametrius Staples

We Appreciate Our Trustees!

We Appreciate Our Trustees!

EISD celebrated our team of seven volunteer trustees at the January board meeting on Monday night. Students and campus principals presented each trustee with personalized gifts and special words of admiration.

Our school board members dedicate countless volunteer hours to ensuring every student in our community has access to quality education. They make tough decisions on budgets, policies, and programs, often balancing competing priorities while keeping student success at the center.

This month, let's recognize our trustees for their service! They attend evening meetings, review complex proposals, listen to community feedback, and work to shape the future of our schools.
