Elgin ISD provides workers' compensation benefits to employees who are injured at work. This benefit will cover only a work-related injury or illness, not other medical problems. Once a claim is reported and accepted by the Business/Benefits department, your workers' compensation benefits begin. This is the only medical benefit you may use for treatment of your specific claim/injury, including medical examinations and medications.

Process for Workers Compensation Claims:

For emergencies please direct employees to the nearest emergency room or clinic. If possible ensure employee leaves with Verification of Employment for a Reported Workers' Compensation Injury or Illness and Optum First Fill Card and contact Administration immediately.

Email of fax all signed forms and paperwork by the next business day to:

Please refer injured employees directly to Administration for any further questions or issues regarding any workers' compensation injury. Alert Ema Cespedes immediately if the employee misses any time, returns to work, or if there are any questions or concerns.

Note: A First Report of Injury must be filed once employee reports or campus is made aware of any on-the-job injury, illness, or incident. Group Insurance does not cover medical treatment for compensable workers' compensation injury. Employees should not pay for medical treatment for a workers' compensation injury.
