Clinical Teachers
Elgin ISD is a great place for clinical teachers (also called student teachers). We partner with educator preparation programs across Texas and the U.S. to pair student teachers with experienced mentor teachers for one-on-one coaching and support throughout their placement. Every student teacher who completes their placement with EISD is guaranteed an interview for a teaching position within the district.
PreService Residency
This year-long program satisfies the clinical teaching requirement, but it's not a fit for every student teacher. Because there's no gradual release of responsibility, participants step in as co-teachers from day one — so universities recommend only a select few candidates who are ready for that level of immediate responsibility.
