What is CURRICULUM?

• The Elgin ISD curriculum is a standards-based framework for guiding teachers and instructional leaders in planning for and implementing instruction that is customized and responsive to students' needs and emphasizes student learning, growth, and performance. The curriculum is a road map that helps educators know WHAT students need to learn at each grade level and course (scope) and guides them on WHEN to teach particular concepts, knowledge, skills, and processes (sequence).

What is INSTRUCTION?

• Instruction is HOW teachers deliver the curriculum to students. Teachers must consider the depth and complexity required of the state expectations while knowing the differing abilities and interests of their students to plan for and execute daily lessons and activities.
