SB9 and HB1525 Information on Health Instructional Materials

Texas Senate Bill 9 Information for Parents & Guardians

According to Texas Senate Bill 9, Elgin ISD is required to provide instruction relating to the prevention of child abuse, family violence, dating violence, and sex trafficking. Elgin ISD, with guidance from the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), has approved the instructional materials that will be used to teach each of these topics.

Before a student may be provided with instruction related to child abuse, family violence, dating violence, and sex trafficking, Elgin ISD must obtain written consent from the student’s parent/guardian. Parents/Guardians will complete the SB9 Consent Form provided by the campus when school begins.  

As a parent/guardian, you have the right to preview the curriculum(s) at any time. Below you will find links to the general websites of each approved set of instructional materials. Your child’s campus can provide opportunities for a more detailed look at the lessons on request. At least 14 days before each instructional presentation, your child’s campus will communicate the date(s) of each lesson. Please note: not all topics are covered at every grade level.

Texas House Bill 1525 Information for Parents & Guardians

According to Texas House Bill 1525, Elgin ISD must provide instruction relating to puberty, reproductive health, and human sexuality. Elgin ISD, with guidance from the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), has approved the instructional materials that will be used to teach each of these topics.

Before a student may be provided with instruction related to puberty, reproductive health, and human sexuality, Elgin ISD must obtain written consent from the student’s parent/guardian. Parents/Guardians will complete the HB1525 Consent Form provided by the campus when school begins.
