Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelors of Music, emphasis in musical theatre from Ouachita Baptist University, 2002 Texas Music Teacher's certification: 2006
Welcome to Mrs. Cromer's webpage!
A little bit about me: I am from Whitehouse, Tx. I met my husband in high school. We both went to Arkansas for college. I attended Ouachita Baptist University on a music scholarship, and graduated with a musical theatre degree. After a couple of years performing, I had a job on an educational opera tour, where we got to hang out with students after the show and talk to them a little bit about music, opera, performing, etc. I realized then that I really enjoyed the feeling of inspiring kids to continue their educations with the arts. After that contract was up, I decided to get my teacher's certification in music education, and here we are!
I live with my bearded husband (who teaches in Taylor ISD) and my 4 extremely expressive children in a 27 acre master-planned community in Austin that provides affordable, sustainable housing and a supportive community for the chronically homeless called Community First! In our spare time there, you might find us hanging out/cooking with our neighbors, working in the community gardens, or watching an outdoor movie. We love being outside, so when the weather is nice, you would probably find us biking, hiking, or playing/picnicking out at Zilker park.
Things I like: writing/journaling, art, shopping at thrift stores, campfires, singing/creating music, fall, jelly bellies, coffee, breakfast, and the mountains
Things I dislike: being told to be quiet, paperwork, deadlines, housework, hatefullness, anyone over the age of 12 dressed as an animal, and networking
This is my fourth year teaching at Elgin HS, and I could not be more excited about what the coming year has in store for us.
I anticipate another record-breaking year for Elgin HS Choir Department.
I have a very full day, and always welcome (depend on) any help and support from parents!
Please check the website regularly for updates on contest/concert dates, performances, tests, and other important information.
I look forward to an exciting, fun, and music-filled year with your students!
