Mr. Michael Adams
I received my Master's in Educational Administration from Texas State University and am currentlly the Principal at Phoenix High School in the Elgin Independent School District. I am a strong advocate for public education and am currently a member of the Raise Your Hand Texas organizaton, which fights for keeping our schools public. I work dilligently to involve all stakeholders; students, parents and community members, in the educational process. Since coming to Phoenix High School three years ago, we have implemented a "Blended" learning approach, using technology while still maintaining the face-to-face interaction which is so vital to student success. I truly believe the statement "It takes a village to raise a child" but feel that Curry 2016, made an even more profound assumption, It takes a village to raise a child's performance." I want to create at Phoenix High School a warm and inviting environment, where students can feel free to explore all their educational and career-related options without prejudice or preconcieved notions.
I am currently starting my twenty-third year in education, the last three as the Principal of this progressive high school. Previously I served as an assistant principal at Elgin High School for seven years. I have had the great opportunity to serve as teacher, coach and athletic trainer in varous districts in Texas for thirteen years prior to becoming an adminstrator. I am married to Denise Adams, a teacher also, and have two children, Chase 21 and Shay 18.
