General Information for New Students
Elgin ISD campus (school) zoning is determined by the street address where the student lives. Please visit the boundary map or interactive map to determine your student's campus.
New to Elgin ISD
Register a student joining Elgin ISD for the first time. Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is now open.

Kindergarten
Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the respective school year are eligible to begin Kindergarten in Fall of that school year. Enrollment must be completed separately for each student
Pre-Kindergarten
Elgin ISD offers a Pre-Kindergarten program to children who qualify. A qualifying child must be:

4 years of age on or before Sept. 1 of the respective school year.

A resident of the Elgin Independent School District boundary

Meet immunization requirements

Meet at least one of the qualifying criteria established by the Texas Education Code:

Economically disadvantaged
-
English language learner
-
Homeless
-
Child of an active duty member of the U.S. armed forces or member of the U.S. armed forces who was injured or killed while on active duty

Child is in or previously in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services
-
Parent of the child is eligible for the Star of Texas (peace officer, firefighter or emergency medical first responder) seriously injured or killed in the line of duty

Returning Families
If your student(s) were enrolled in Elgin ISD during the previous school year, we will automatically email Skyward Family Access login steps to the email address that you have on file with Elgin ISD. You may use your Skyward Family Access account to upload proof of residency, update emergency contacts, and enroll any new school-age children.
