Elgin ISD Changes Lives
Dec. 1, 2022
The Elgin ISD Board of Trustees on Monday received information regarding the 2022-2023 retention incentive for employees included in the current fiscal year budget.
Employees will receive the payments this month, during Dec. 15 payroll distribution.
Elgin ISD staff on the teacher pay scale will receive 1 percent of Step 13. Eligible student-teachers will be calculated based on 90 days of work at 1 percent of the Clerical Paraprofessional 1 midpoint scale, and half-time employees will each accrue half of the approved amount for their respective pay scales. Other eligible employees will be paid 1 percent of the midpoint for their respective pay scales, as of Sept. 30.
The school district had to hit its projected enrollment figure as of Friday, Oct. 28 to be eligible for the retention incentive. Enrollment had been projected to be 5,350 students, and the district exceeded that amount, with a total of 5,388 students enrolled on that date.
Eligibility is also limited to staff members employed by the district on or before Sept. 30, and on staff through Dec. 31. Substitutes are not eligible.
The retention incentive does not meet Teacher Retirement System eligibility.
